Hiteno Takikawa (Japanese: 滝川ひての) was a Japanese supercentenarian whose age has been validated by LongeviQuest.

BIOGRAPHY

Hiteno Takikawa was born in Teshio, Hokkaido Prefecture, Japan, on 25 September 1903. She spent her entire life in Teshio. She had children and was well-regarded within her community.

In August 2013, Takikawa contracted pneumonia but recovered within two weeks. She celebrated her 110th birthday on 25 September with a visit from the mayor of Teshio at her nursing home. Takikawa passed away on 18 June 2014, at the age of 110.

RECOGNITION

In 2003, she celebrated her 100th birthday and was recognized as the 19th-oldest person in the Rumoi Regional Development Bureau. By September 2012, at the age of 108, she had become the 7th-oldest person in Hokkaido. A year later, in September 2013, she advanced to 4th-oldest in Hokkaido at age 109.

On 23 February 2014, following the passing of 110-year-old Myōgin Furumoto, she became the oldest living person in Hokkaido Prefecture, at the age of 110 years, 151 days. Upon her own passing, she was succeeded by Miyo Koganezaki.

Her age was verified by Japan’s Ministry of Health, Labour, and Welfare (MHLW), as well as Ryohei Asano, and validated by LongeviQuest on 15 September 2024.
