María Teresa Madrid, Colombia’s Oldest Known Woman, Dies at 111
Geralda Aloy was born in Lavras do Sul, Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil, on 27 January 1905. Widowed at the age of 48, she never remarried. She raised ten children while supporting her family as a seamstress and grocer, and also made soap and served as a midwife. According to relatives, by the time she reached 110 years old, she had more than 100 descendants. She continued working until the age of 90.
Geralda Aloy passed away in Dom Pedrito, Rio Grande do Sul, on 16 September 2015, at the age of 110 years, 232 days.
