Élisa Marie Rogard (née Esnault) was a French supercentenarian who was the oldest living person in France in 1981. Her age has been validated by the Gerontology Research Group (GRG) and the European Supercentenarian Organisation (ESO), and recognised by LongeviQuest.

BIOGRAPHY

Rogard was born as Élisa Marie Esnault in Nantes, Loire-Atlantique, Pays de la Loire, France, on 10 December 1870. She died on 25 April 1981 in Orvault, in the same department, at the age of 110 years, 136 days.

RECOGNITION

Following the death of Augustine Tessier, 112, on 8 March 1981, Rogard became France’s oldest known resident. Upon her own death 48 days later, Argentina native Elvire Mendiboure (1873 – 1982) became the oldest living person in France.

Rogard’s age was verified by Jean-Marie Robine (GRG) and Cyril Depoudent of Les Grands Centenaires Français (ESO), and was validated by the latter organisation on 12 August 2021. Her maiden name, Esnault, was erroneously used by the GRG in their lists.
