BIOGRAPHY

Clotila Pedroza was born in Radical, Stone County, Missouri, USA, on 29 November 1913, to parents Henry Thomas Perkins (1876–1931) and Sarah Nettie Knight (1883–1970). She had at least three maternal half-siblings: Delora Isabell Abbott (1904–1916), Loyd Othel Abbott (1909–1910), and Eddie Clyde Abbott (1911–1985). She also had a younger sister, Wanda Lee Pennock (1926–1997).

In 1930, she married John Jack Russell (1906–1970). She had a total of seven children, three of whom were still alive when she turned 110. At that age, she also had 16 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren, and 7 great-great-grandchildren. In 1976, she married Refugio Pedroza (1914–2000), and gained 6 stepchildren.

According to her family and caretaker, her secret to longevity was enjoying a Dr Pepper each day, indulging in sweets, and finding joy in life every day. They described her as someone who laughed at her own jokes and had a talent for making others laugh as well.
